| This is a monthly chart of the longest bull market in U.S. history, the historic bull market of the 1980's and 90's that began in August, 1982. Of course looking at this as a single bull market is taking a very long term view. In November of 1987 there were not many investors who felt like we were in a bull market. Note the acceleration of the trend in 1995 and 1996. The pace of the uptrend is cause for some concern. Some investors or traders would say that the market is "going parabolic", meaning it has entered into the last blowoff rally before a sizable downturn. Note a similar acceleration into the October, 1987 crash. |
