Way back in 1996 I had a vision... and it wasn't a very pleasant vision. Unfortunately, the vision turned out to be all too true...

Like everyone else, I was excited to see the gains. HOWEVER, I had spent a lot of time studying market history, and I knew the bull market wouldn't last forever. That seems obvious to say now... but back then it was almost heresy. The prevailing wisdom was that "this time it is different" - the bull would keep roaring until the Dow was at 30,000 (or more).

Just the mention of the term "bear market" was literally enough to bring scorn and ridicule heaping down from all corners.

Well, I not only KNEW that the market wouldn't keep on going straight up... I also had an investment model built to warn me when it was time to get out of stocks.

So I did a very strange thing... I decided to tell the world about it - for FREE.

On August 30th, 1996 I sent out the first issue of "The Walker Market Letter" via email. It might seem amazing now, but back in those days email was almost unknown. And the idea of sending a serious financial newsletter via email (for free no less!) was completely revolutionary.

That first issue only went to 19 people. But the subscribers grew like wild fire - into the hundreds, then the thousands, then the tens of thousands. All through word of mouth... eventually reaching up to 80,000 subscribers!

And then an amazing thing happened - my investment model did EXACTLY what it was built to do. It got me and my readers out of the market just before the crash. I warned my readers to get out of the market in late October, 1999 - and the Dow peaked two months later... in January, 2000.

What happened next is history... by some measures the bear market that started in 2000 was the worst bear market since 1929.

And everyone following my model gracefully stepped aside, and didn't lose anything to that huge bear market.

The Scourge Of The Internet... Why I Stopped Publishing

OK, let's fast forward... over a year ago I stopped publishing the Walker Market Letter. And the main reason was a scourge that we are all familair with - SPAM email !!

It was getting harder and harder to get my newsletter delivered. Every time I published, I would get thousands of copies of my newsletter "blocked" by Internet service providers - I had so many subscribers and was sending so much mail that they simply assumed that I was sending SPAM.

In addition to all those newsletters getting blocked, I would also get all kinds of complaints. And every time I published my newsletter, then MY inbox would fill with SPAM. It got so bad that I was actually getting more than 3000 pieces of SPAM each day.

Finally, the frustration just got to be too much... and I gave up and stopped publishing the Walker Market Letter.

Well, times have changed again. Email filters have gotten better. And I found an extraordinary "list host" - a company that is run by a personal friend of mine - Tom Kulzer. His company - Aweber - does a fantastic job of making sure that email newsletters (like the Walker Market Letter) get delivered.

And there is another key factor at work... after doing my job and warning my readers of the 2000 crash, I think there is once again a lot of danger in the market.

In addition, I have another more personal reason to start publishing again. I just had a very profound lesson in how important and meaningful it is to teach others... to pass along your knowledge.

I have a lot of investing knowledge and wisdom to pass along, and once again I feel the inspiration to do so.
